The never ending shadow boxing among the Patriotic Front low level officials is back in the picture with Chawama Constituency chairman Robert Chikwelete taking the blows following demands for him to step down.
Chikwelete who took the spotlight during the anti Wynter Kabimba protests in the ruling party finds himself on the receiving end of a revolt with the PF Lusaka District office demanding his removal.
Lusaka District information chairman Mwenya Matafwali said four wards in Chawama Constituency have petitioned the removal of Chikwelete.
He said that the district office had also received a petition to dissolve the Kanyama Constituency executive.
There is a sense of panic in the Patriotic Front urban structures given the discontent among the citizenry over the general state of living and also the poor governance record of the ruling party.
Increasing mealie meal prices and the recent fuel hike is eating into the PF’s support base.
