Fr ChitiJesuit Centre for Theological Reflection (JCTR) says the fight against corruption under the Patriotic Front government is selective.

JCTR Executive Director Father Leonard Chiti says those close to government were being shielded from prosecution by the President.

He cited the case of Kasama Central Member of Parliament Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba who bore the wrath of the police and Anti Corruption Commission after leaving government.

Mwamba, popularly known as GBM, suffered government persecution over his business contracts with government after falling out with President Michael Sata.

The charges had earlier been cleared by the ACC but after he left government the investigations were instituted.

Fr Chiti said the fact that the President directed the ACC never to prosecute any minister without his knowledge was a sign that the fight was selective.

He said corruption could only be effectively fought if the ACC was purely independent of any interference.
