Clik here to view. The ruling Patriotic Front (PF) in Northern Province is has embarked on a well calculated plan to stop Kasama Central Member of Parliament (MP) Geoffrey Mwamba from visiting his constituency, insiders have revealed.
The ruling party has been uncomfortable with the support the suspended parliamentarian receives from the locals each time he visited Kasama, prompting the PF to embark on desperate measures to obstruct the Mwamba.
PF sources in Kasama said the recent visit by party Secretary General Wynter Kabimba was part of the plan to deal with Mwamba. During his recent visit to Kasama, Kabimba said the people must prepare themselves for an election in Kasama central.
The sources in Kasama said Wynter Kabimba was not happy that incumbent MP Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba (GBM) still enjoyed massive support from the people in Kasama. The sources said Kabimba wants to deal with GBM once and for all, but from the look of things, the battle would be epic.
The source could not disclose the comprehensive details of the plan against GBM but he said the plot was meant to de-campaign the parliamentarian and frustrate him from holding on to the Kasama seat.
The source said some youths had been mobilized to deal firmly with GBM and his supporters on his future visits to Kasama.
“We had an extensive meeting regarding that statement where our secretary general asked the people to prepare for a parliamentary by-election in Kasama. Mr Kabimba wants GBM (Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba out as soon as possible. Actually, the secretary general is coming back to Kasama next week for a provincial meeting and this meeting would just be about GBM and his seat and the impasse with the Bemba Royal Establishment because the issue of the Chitimukulu has really damaged the reputation of the party,” the source said.
He said the PF in Kasama was tasked to conduct extensive meetings with the people and to campaign against GBM in a bid to prepare the ruling for a by-election.
And Northern province PF secretary Everest Chela confirmed that Wynter Kabimba would return to Kasama will next week for a provincial consultative meeting.
He said meetings had already started among PF members in Northern province and some MPs such as Malole member of Parliament Christopher Yaluma were already on the ground to prepare for the indaba.
He said the party’s popularity in Northern province had dwindled and the PF would soon embark on a mobilisation programme to grow the party and increase its slipping membership.
He said PF members must exercise discipline and support their respective area Members of Parliament by campaigning for the MPs and spreading information on the unprecedented and massive developmental programmes currently occurring in Northern province.
He said PF officials must work harder than before because President Michael Sata was a man of action and he was humbled by the massive support coming from Northern province.
Chela said President Sata would visit Northern province at his own appropriate time to attend to any matters within and outside the party.
