Former Evelyn Hone College lecturer Clayson Hamasaka has hinted at taking legal action against the Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) and Airtel for the apparent reckless manner his private mobile phone and social media communications were accessed by a private person connected to the ruling Patriotic Front.
Hamasaka, a former Head of Department in Media Studies was last year arrested by the Drug Enforcement Commission who searched his house on account that they were looking for drugs but ended up getting away with all the communication and work tools from him and all his family members.
He was later detained and after several changes to the charge which has now been embarrassingly to DEC been reduced to pornography after they allegedly found a picture on one of the laptops whose origin is a matter of suspicion after having held on to his laptops for over a year.
Hamasaka was fired from Evelyn Hone College for allegedly being linked to the opposition UPND after the party’s leader Hakainde Hichilema visited the college and talked to students informally.
His wife, Pamela, who is also a journalist, was fired from her job at the Lusaka Water and Sewerage as a way of strangling Hamasaka financially after he lost his job at Evelyn Hone on suspicion of being linked to one of the critical online publication – Zambian Watchdog.
Below is Hamasaka’s posting on social network facebook:
I have just come back from my usual survival and personal errands in Serenje, Mkushi and Copperbelt. I should confess I have not been regular on various social media platforms such as face book and visiting websites for research purposes since I was fired from my job at Evelyn Hone College for reasons I still don’t understand.
In fact I think I urgently need a refresher course on use of these media platforms that I taught for many years…Lol.
But while I was away I kept receiving very disturbing phone calls and text messages on whether I had seen things written about me by my sister Proud Musamba, who I should confess I don’t know at all.
Even worse, some were after my blood with all sorts of threats on my life for being associated with certain online media platforms I rarely visit due to time constraints and change of career interest.
While on the Copperbelt, I struggled to log on my FB account as I had even forgotten my password. Even worse, my home computer used by my beautiful kids was some somehow log-on each time they were doing their own things on the net.
After I successfully managed, I realised my personal mobile number was all over with detailed description of personal activity such as how many calls, text messages and all sorts I had made to certain people.
I should say I am personally humbled and thankfully to the ‘data’ provided by my sister Musamba as it opened my eyes on certain tragedies that me and my beautiful dear Lala/Nsenga wife were going through in life.
I seriously never new the extent to which institutions I held in high esteem such as ZICTA and AIRTEL had ILLEGALLY allowed my personal information be accessed by other parties.
From the information thankfully shared by my sister Musamba about details of my phone activity, I believe I have serious business with ZICTA and AIRTEL. Let me not delve into details for now.
A careful analysis of the information shared by my sister is also very helpful for my on going court case because the dates given somehow coincide with the period I was searched for drugs and later arrested for being in possession of obscene material on my laptop. I should again thank my sister for opening my eyes on that one.
But for now just a small correction/addition on some of the information given by my sister. I can confess that I had indeed occasionally met or had several phone chats with a number of my former students including Lloyd Himaambo, George Chellah, Dickson Jere, Emmanuel Mwamba, and many others after they left the college and I have no regrets whatsoever.
I am still a referee for many of them and I still write recommendation letters for those who need them for various purposes.
But at no time have I had an FB chat with people like Emmanuel Mwamba, Dickson Jere, Lloyd Himaambo, and the likes of George Chellah. Any screen shots to that effect are totally untrue and with time, I can even prove how the fake ones are created for malicious reasons.
In fact, I have already received so much libelous and scandalous information to insult and discredit my sister Musamba, including the purported screen shots of her FB chats with some people.
Those who know me will appreciate and confess that it is not my life style to do such things, especially where it involves insults on our dear ladies.
For now, I would like to thank my dear sister Musamba for the helpful and insightful information, especially on my phone activity, for which I will proceed to ZICTA and AIRTEL accordingly depending on legal advice.
Thank you all and please lets love one another for the benefit of our peaceful and united Zambia as country which we should all be proud of. Petty squabbles and differences may be common but these should not over-ride greater goal of improving our great nation Zambia.
And please let me enjoy my early retirement for now as I pursue other interest in life. My family and I have so far had enough traumatizing experiences. I am enjoying life half the time in the bush herding animals….as in back to my roots….Lol
Thank you all and have a blessed and productive week.
