Home Affairs permanent secretary Maxwell Nkole has said government will soon repatriate Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) refugees that were displaced during the fight between the M23 rebels and government troops following a peace agreement.
Nkole said after a peace agreement was reached, government is preparing to send over 500 refugees back to their country and that it did not intend to keep them for a long time.
He said much as Zambia is a hospitable country and a home of refugees for a long time, the DRC refugees would soon be repatriated since the war has ceased between the rebels and government forces.
The Rwanda backed M23 rebels and the government forces have agreed a peace deal that has led to the cease fire in the Eastern part of the DRC where they still keep terrorising civilians.
