Former Post Newspapers Managing Editor Amos Malupenga has half heartedly shaken off allegations of corruption over the digital migration tender that cost him his Information Permanent Secretary portfolio.
Malupenga, who was last week was grilled by the Anti Corruption Commission, said he had not been warned and cautioned but merely told to give a statement to the anti graft body.
An emotionally wrecked Malupenga asked for time out under the grill of hardnosed ACC officials and tearfully denied all the accusations.
Malupenga, who is serving as North Western Province Permanent Secretary, was removed from the Ministry of Information after allegations surfaced that he had dipped his fingers in the tender that was said to have been improperly awarded to a Chinese firm.
“I was not warned, I was not cautioned, and the ACC came to me. The ACC came to me and they told me that I am not a suspect and that they are just getting a witness statement in the investigations that they are conducting,” said Malupenga.
“I am not aware of any warn and caution that is why I am saying get back to your sources.”
The former newspaperman is one of a dozen that were harvested from the Post Newspapers newsroom after the PF won as a reward for having given President Michael Sata acres of space in their publication.
However, although he is serving as Permanent Secretary his last publicly recorded post secondary school education is a humble certificate in journalism obtained from Evelyn Hone College and the two weeks diplomatic orientation certificate obtained from NIPA as part of orientation to the ins and outs of government.
