UPND special advisor to party president Hakainde Hichilema, Douglas Syakalima, has said President Sata and his wife Dr Christine Kaseba are the largest individual beneficiaries in the 2013 budget with a total amount of K2.9 billion.

Syakalima said President Sata has allocated himself K1.4 billion for the construction of his official retirement house while his wife has a budget of K1.5 billion.

He said this was an absurd development especially that the K2.9 billion to the Sata family were not allocated according to the constitutional provisions.

President Sata is keen on constructing his official retirement house despite failing to finish constructing houses for his predecessors, late president Levy Mwanawasa, late president Frederick Chiluba and immediate past president Rupiah Banda.

Despite persistent calls for him to change and make right his priorities in order of presidency, President Sata and his followers are insisting on construction the house and giving the first lady a bounty for her illegal office.

Sata’s wife, allocation has also been challenged by many stakeholders because of lack of legal provisions to support it but government has insisted on going ahead with it.
