The Private Sector Development Association (PSDA) says the move by China to give Zambia Preferential Treatment of 95% on about 8000 export products to that country presents Zambia an opportunity to expand on its non-traditional exports.
PSDA Chairperson Yusuf Dodia says the offer comes at the right time when one of the country’s major markets for exports the European Union is faced with an economic crisis.
Dodia notes that the offer by China if well utilized would enable the country grow its export base thereby contributing towards the growth of the country’s revenue base.
He has also indicated that having an increase in the number of trade partners will enable the country to sell its products at very competitive prices.
Dodia has further stressed the need for financial institutions including the Bank of China which also has a branch in Zambia to partner with the local business firms to allow them grow and be able to produce goods that are on demand in China.
China has given Zambia Preferential Treatment of 95% on about 8000 export products that are needed in China.
