The Human Rights Commission has oberved that Zambia is delving into a lawless state under the PF government.
HRC chairperson Pixie Yangailo said the government is slowly withdrawing fundamental rights for its citizens and effecting unjustified police arrests.
She wondered under what circumstances police arrested MMD president Dr Nevers Mumba and incarcerated him in police cells for two days.
Yangailo noted the trend of government interferance with citizens right to express themselves and assemble is denting the country’s human rights record at the international stage.
She urged the PF government to have respect for people’s human rights and avoid Zambia descending into a country that did not regard fundamental human right for its citizens .
Dr Mumba was early this week arrested and charged with unlawful assembly for visiting Chief Nkana and talking to marketeers on the Copperbelt.
