UPND Secretary General Winstone Chibwe says it is unfortunate that Dr.Kaunda who is regarded as the father of the nation has started acting like a Patriotic Front cadre.
Chibwe says it is not healthy for Dr. Kaunda to start engaging himself in active politics.
Speaking in an interview with QFM News, Mr. Chibwe says if Dr. Kaunda wants to get back to active politics, he is free to do so but that he should first surrender his retirement house and stop receiving all the benefits of a former president.
Chibwe says it is unjustifiable for the former head of state seen receiving defectors on behalf of the Patriotic Front.
Meanwhile, expelled MMD National Secretary Major Richard Kachingwe claims the defection of MMD chairman for elections Gabriel Namulambe to the Patriotic Front is the beginning of mass defections from the party.
Maj Kachingwe, who alongside Namulambe were PF moles in the MMD National Executive Committee until they were exposed, says Namulambe’s defection is the saddest development in the history of the MMD because he has been forced to defect due to the current poor leadership being exhibited in the former ruling party.
Maj Kachingwe however stated that the move taken by Namulambe, although sad for the party, is right as it will send a strong signal to the National Executive Committee of the party that things are not right in the party.
Maj Kachingwe says some members of NEC have been a letdown as they have chosen to become Dr. Nevers Mumba’s puppets.
He states that as long as the leadership of the MMD does not address its problems, it should brace itself for more defections.
