In an attempt to offer herself a cash gift during the festive season, a cashier from Investrust Bank in Livingstone has been swindled out of K40 million cash by two alleged witchdoctors.
The cashier is reported to have entered into an agreement with two men, who promised to multiply the money after making some enchantment. The two men duped the cashier to give them K40 million which they promised to multiply to K60 million.
According to the agreement, the two men and the cashier were afterwards supposed to share the K20 million profit and return the K40 million back to the bank safe.
Southern Province police commanding officer Charity Katanga who confirmed the botched deal said when the cashier delivered the money, the two men told her to mix it with meal meal and place it in a black bag.
Katanga said the two witch doctors then told the cashier to take the black bag meal and open it after two hours to collect the K60 million. Katanga said upon opening the black bag at the expiry of two hours, the cashier froze to find that there was no money except the mealie meal.
That is when she reported the matter to police for fear of her job after losing the money.
