The three United Party for National Development cadres who were arrested on Monday for being in possession of dangerous weapons this morning appeared in the Kasama Magistrate Court.
Police intercepted the trio at a roadblock in Kasama and found pangas and machetes in the car belonging to Kasama Central Member of Parliament that was branded in UPND colours.
The trio Mike Sitali, Levy Simukoko and Dickson Sakala have pleaded not guilty and have been released on a K2, 000 cash bail each in their own cognisance.
Political parties have resorted to arming their cadres following incidences of violence reported during the campaigns for the January, 20 elections.
