Post Newspaper owner Fred M’membe has fired a guard for allegedly taking pictures of him and Maureen Mwanawasa after a meeting at the newspapers’ offices in Rhodes Park.
M’membe, who is in the habit of firing workers without any form of consideration, was so upset that his meeting with Maureen had leaked online rendering the private and secret meeting they had public.
Maureen, whose late husband was Zambia’s third President, visited The Post and held a meeting to plead for some sort of balance for opposition UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema.
Since that meeting, Hichilema who has previously been called all sorts of names by M’membe including a tribalist bantustan has endured some positive coverage ahead of the January 20 polls.
Sources have told Zambia Reports that the guard was fired because M’membe strongly suspects the images were captured from the direction of the guardroom.
Intelligence sources, however, say the pictures were captured from a vehicle that had trailed Maureen Mwanawasa following a tip off about the meeting.
