There seems no love lost between Former Patriotic Front Secretary General Wynter Kabimba and his former party as he went for them once again labelling it a regional party.
Featuring on Pan African Radio this morning Kabimba jokingly said he was saddened that Poor People’s Party candidate Alex Muliokela failed to file his nomination papers but promised to vote for “someone nearly as popular as my Muliokela”.
He also said he still doesn’t know why he was fired by late President Michael Sata.
Kabimba said that the PF transformed itself into a regional party after the death of President Sata.
“It is not a question of what I think but what everybody sees. There is no doubt that the PF has transformed itself into a regional party since the death of President Sata,” he said.
“The PF was one party that vilified another party for being regional so I could not stand this level of hypocrisy.”
He also said that it was a shame that voting on regional terms was rearing its ugly head ahead of presidential elections.
“The issue of saying now is our time to rule or Umodzi Kumawa is taking us 30 years back,” he said.
“We are destroying the foundation that Dr Kenneth Kaunda worked hard to build in having the One Zambia, One Nation motto.”
He said that he had no idea why he was fired by President Sata on August, 28, 30 days before the Head of State died.
“…I did not want to be cabinet minister in the first place and requested President Sata in 2010 long before we won. My instincts told me from then on that it was a wrong team. I have no idea why I was fired just like i had no idea why i was appointed,” he said.
“You serve at the pleasure of the President and it is purely at his discretion.”
Kabimba said that he had his reasons for not joining the opposition United Party for National Development.
The former Justice Minister has since formed his own political party the National Rainbow Party that he says is aiming at taking over power in 2016.
