The grand coalition on the constitution says it still expects Patriotic Front president Edgar Lungu to sign the social contract that will tie him to delivering people driven constitution before the 2016 general elections.
Coalition chairperson Father Leonard Chiti said that it was not enough for Lungu to say he will deliver a people driven constitution but needed a written commitment that they could him accountable to.
Fr Chiti said they were hopeful that the PF candidate will come to the table to sign within the remaining time before the presidential elections.
“By now the Zambian people understand where we are coming from on the constitution and the idea of the social contracts. If the government was able to follow the roadmap we would not be in this situation now,” he said.
“We understand they have released the roadmap but it is important to have a physical, symbolic and moral commitment of an organization.”
