Senior Members of the Patriotic Front party have stated that they will block any attempts to adopt Kelvin Sampa as a candidate for the newly declared Kasama Central Seat.
The senior members who comprised some MCCs declared that the party was not short of credible leadership.
“No matter how many people Kelvin (Sampa) buys in Kasama, it won’t work. We want a clean candidate,” sources have said.
This followed celebrations of Geoffrey Mwamba’s expulsion from Parliament.
“This boy has injured many Presidents and their spouses including Rupiah Banda.(Sampa took 12 wrecks (light trucks) to RB and his immunity was lifted on account of this.
Sampa still has police protection for four years given to him by Mutembo Nchito as DPP over RBs case),” s source narrated.
The Catholic Church which has an archdiocese in Kasama have said that the Patriotic Front should pick a credible and a clean candidates.
“Donations and hand-outs might sway cheap interests and superficial popularity but Kasama requires development and not hand-outs” a senior cleric commented.
And commenting on Sampa being found with a senior aide to President Edgar Lungu a senior party official said that:” that wont help Sampa because this President is wise and enjoys security and strategic information, Well Sampa could have fooled KK, conned Maureen Mwanawasa, took RB to court but we will NOT allow him to fool, con or deceive President Edgar Lungu…Not on our watch.” He said.
The PF is expected to consider Kelvin Sampa, Zambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Emmanuel Mwamba, former Northern Province Provincial Chairperson and diplomat to China, Frederick Chisanga and Gabriel Kaunda(although he is not known to be PF).
