Government has promised to give US $90,000 each to the Zambia National team if they successfully defend the Africa Cup of Nations Cup.
Sports minister Chishimba Kabwili said the players will receive US $20,000 each when they reach the finals of the tournament.
And President Michael Sata has visited the Zambian soccer team camp in South Africa and urged them to return the cup home.
President Sata said the team can defend the tile just like they won it last year. He said Zambia cannot fear any team just like they managed to win the cup in 2012.
He said African teams should be running afraid of Zambia and that the players should ensure that they play well.
“Anyway, I have just come here to wish you good luck. You have already done it before and go and do it again. Zambia must be a renowned team to be scared of in the entire Africa,” he said.
Team captain Christopher Katongo said the President’s visit was a motivation to the players while coach Herve Renard said the team was ready for the tournament.
