Government will this year launch a national integrated card that will also be used for voting.
Home Affairs minister Edgar Lungu said this will be done in collaboration with the Electoral Commission of Zambia so that it can be used as a national identity and voter’s card.
This means that the government will phase out the National Registrations Card and introduce a document that will also capture details that are on the voter’s card.
“So it is integrated as it were and will serve multiple purposes. The process is advanced and we have sent a team to go and do a due diligence on it and identify who will be involved in the contract,” he said.
