Kitwe residents are scrambling for land at the council offices forcing the suspension of the process following the overwhelming response.
Residents descended on the Civic Centre on Sunday in the hope of acquiring land in Ndeke and Chamboli townships after the council advertised it for sale.
Some residents spent a night at the council offices and the number swelled to unexpected levels forcing the civic leaders to suspend the process after anticipating confusion.
However, the residents were disappointed that after waiting for so long, the council decided to back out and left them with no alternative scheduled time when the land allocation will commence.
They feared that the land allocation is likely to be marred by corruption and appealed to the Ministry of Lands to monitor the process closely.
