Constitution Technical Committee vice-chairman Dr Julius Sakala has said they will consider all the submissions of Zambians in the new constitution.

The constitution conference in Lusaka opened on Monday and will deliberate for seven days when they will make recommendations of the submissions that need to be included in the new constitution.

“Our collective hope is that this time, Zambia will be given a constitution that will have input from everyone,” Dr Sakala said.

So far, the constitution conferences have been held in seven provinces and the last ones are now underway in Lusaka, Southern and Eastern Provinces.

Among the contentious issues adopted in the seven provinces include the 50+1 percent vote for an elected president, unitary state, proportional representation system, vice-president to be a running mate and the appointment of ministers from outside parliament.
