Expelled MMD national women chairperson Catherine Namugala has withdrawn her injunction from the Lusaka High Court.
Namugala, one of the MMD MPs that the PF had paid to create confusion in the former ruling party, was expelled for going against the principles of the party.
The Mafinga lawmaker had gone on rampage attacking party president Dr Nevers Mumba after going in league with expelled national secretary Major Richard Kachingwe. The two formed a splinter faction as and established a secretariat in Rhodes Park allegedly funded by the PF.
Namugala was expelled by NEC but her injunction was not granted and before the court would hear it, the decision was effected by the MMD.
As a result, Namugala’s application is now null and void and was advised to withdraw her application because she is no longer an MMD member.
This means Zambia will hold three by-elections at the same time – which is sometime not later than May – since there are seats in Kapiri Mposhi and Lukulu West recently declared vacant by the Supreme Court.
