Some Zambians have condemned the PF government for planning to erect President Michael Sata’s statues in provincial centres.
It has been reported in the local media that a group of good governance supporters have written to Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba asking for permission to erect 5 meter high statues of President Michael Sata in Kalabo, Kasama, Lusaka and Chipata for the progress the president has brought to Zambia so far.
Mwila Makungu noted that even Saddam Hussein had statues before he died and that this is the process of creating a dictator.
Bwalya Kasunga said there is no visible development that can guarantee a statue for President Sata when people were sleeping on an empty stomach due to high mealie meal prices as a result of mismanagement of the agriculture sector.
“What development surely? I have seen no development, so why honour him? This government has failed the people who voted for it and I’m glad I didn’t give them my vote in the last election because I could have just been regretting now,” he said.
Kapambwe Ngoza said the people that President Sata is using to propagate the idea are mere vuvuzelas that are making him big headed.
Ngoza suggested that they should instead build President Sata’s statues in their backyards.
