Senior United Party for National Development (UPND) officials led by Mazabuka lawmaker Garry Nkombo and his Kalomo counterpart Request Muntanga have gone on hunger strike strike to protest their detention. While Nkombo is charged for a politically engineered murder case following the death of a Patriotic Front official Harrison Chanda in the Livingstone violence, it is unclear what charge Mutanga and more than 20 UPND officials are facing.
