Suspected PF cadres last night smashed the windshield of a Nissan Patrol Hard body vehicle belonging to MMD chairperson for women affairs Faustina Sinyangwe.
The cadres a said to have damaged the vehicle registration number ABJ 5272 shortly after midnight last night at a named lodge in Mpongwe on the Copperbelt.
Province police commissioner Mary Tembo has confirmed the incident and said investigations had been launched into the matter.
She said police visited the scene of the incident and have also recorded statements from the MMD officials.
The Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) has condemned the continued spate of violent activities related to electoral process.
ZCTU secretary general Roy Mwaba said it was disheartening to see the levels of intolerance among political players.
“This is a very sad development in our country. We are worried with the lack of tolerance among political parties taking part in these by-elections.”
It is also sad that the country has continued spending tax payers money on unnecessary by-elections caused selfish members of parliament,” Mwaba said.
