The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested a Solwezi magistrate and two social welfare officers for corrupt practices involving about K7 million.
Acting ACC spokesperson Queen Chibwe confirmed that magistrate Henry Haongola, 35 and two social welfare officers Clifford Hamilandu, 34 and Richard Mutale, 37 for corruptly receiving money.
The trio was arrested in Solwezi and charged with corruption by public officer contrary to the laws of Zambia. They have since been released on bond and will appear in court on Monday.
It is alleged that between 1st April and 20th April 2010, Magistrate Haongola, a public officer while acting together with Hamilandu and Mutale corruptly received K7 million cash gratification from Joyce Nshindo.
This was cash gratification meant for an inducement to prevent the course of justice in a criminal case involving Justine Kuseya Lukanga, the son of Nshindo.
