(FILES) Michael Sata, opposition leaderWe don’t know how to put this. But the constant attack on HH and his wealth by the Republican President is becoming nauseating. We understand that the President saved in two governments before PF and each of them had a culture of getting money that could not be properly explained. It is therefore not surprising that in his eyes no one can make money in a straight forward manner.

For us in UPND Hakainde is not only a president but a mentor and inspiration to the youth. For us he is a man who saw opportunities where others saw nothing. He took his chances while others were seating in Government offices puffing away on Cuban cigars.
We therefore welcome a call on the DPP to investigate this matter and put this matter to rest for good. This is not the first time that Mr Sata has called on DPP to investigate this matter, when he was swearing in the same DPP, he said this and we quote “Let us investigate the privatization of Zamtel, this should also extend to Lima Bank, Intercontinental Hotel (Sun Hotel now), Luanshya Mine etc this was an instruction to investigate HH. We shall not comment much about this because we expect Mutembo and his Principle to update the nation on where we are on these investigations from time to time, or whenever there is a swearing in ceremony.

However, let us point you to two books by Zambians one by Andrew Sardanis called Venture in Africa which talks a bit about the privatization of Nchanga Mine and a more detailed account in Francis Kaunda’s “Selling the Family Silver.” The latter has a more detailed account of how the whole mine privatization was done, if you want to have an independent account of events.

Lastly this investigation or instruction to DPP who by law should not receive any instructions, will work to HHs advantage if the DPP and his principle report back, because once they find NOTHING then HH will be exonerated to the people of the Copperbelt who have vowed never to vote for him because according to them he sold the mines and made them suffer.
