United States Ambassador to Zambia Mark Storella says his government is proud to support new partnerships that will positively impact lives of Zambians by providing important opportunities for food security and income generation.

During a signing ceremony where the United States government yesterday awarded $25, 000 (about KR125, 000) to Zambian community-based organisations through the United States African Development Foundation (USADF), Ambassador Storella said the grants would expand economic opportunities and improve the standard of living of communities in three provinces.

“These grants are small but important. They can make a big difference to the community,” he said.

Ambassador Storella praised the commitment and contributions of the grantee organizations working to expand economic opportunities in their communities.

Grants awarded yesterday would assist Lubuto Women’s Club in Luapula Province to start a broiler chicken farm and also support an oil processor and agricultural training project undertaken by Mpika Hope Against AIDS in Muchinga Province.

The funds would also support the purchase of a hammer mill by Chejezhi Africa-Zambia to develop an income generation project in North Western Province.
