Herve Renard says he finds it strange that some fans are talking ill about the team barely a year after winning the Africa Cup.
Renard said the fact that the team was playing off the hype of being champions, they will quietly do the job in pushing for the country’s World Cup dream.
The Frenchman said the team was focused on beating Lesotho on Sunday when the two sides clash in a 2014 Brazil World Cup qualifier at Sesotho Stadium.
“If people want to forget football one year after winning the Africa Cup that means it is very strange to me,” he said.
“We have a good team that has a good future but now people are talking like this. Teams like Ghana and Ivory Coast have not won it (Africa Cup) in 25 years and Zambia was able to win it once which was a miracle.”
Renard added, “If you analyze intentional football it is not easy to win one big competition and people want to forget that we have a good future, we are very focused on winning this game on Sunday.”
The Frenchman leads his troops against Lesotho on Sunday in a Group D World Cup qualifier. Zambia tops the group on six points, two better than second placed Ghana who host Sudan in Kumasi.
