Zambia’s Chipolopolo have arrived safely in Maseru after leaving Johannesburg yesterday afternoon for tomorrow’s 2014 Brazil World Cup qualifier against Lesotho. The team made a night stop over in Bloemfontein after a four hour road trip from Johannesburg and this morning spent a further one hour and a half to reach their destination.
Chipolopolo, as the Zambians are known, arrived at the Lesotho border around 11:20 hours after keeping the Lesotho delegation waiting for over an hour but did not last long for immigration formalities and immediately connected to the hotel where they were checked in 16 minutes later.
The Zambian team is accommodated at the Maseru Sun Hotel and is expected to train at the Sesotho Stadium at 15:00 hours this afternoon.
Lesotho officials waiting for the Zambian team at the border were caught by surprise when their visitors refused to board the local bus arranged for them preferring their luxury coach that ferried them from Johannesburg where they had set up a five day training camp.
Zambia lead Group D with six points, three better than Ghana who face Sudan in the other group match tomorrow. Winner of the Group will qualify for the final knock out round of qualifiers which will determine Africa’s five representatives at the World Cup next year.
