Southern Africa Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) says there is a breakdown of communication in the PF cabinet as evidenced by the conflicting positions between acting president Edgar Lungu and agriculture minister Bob Sichinga.
Barely 24 hours after Sichinga had announced the ban on the export of maize to foreign
countries, Lungu moved in to quash the directive.
The SACCORD information officer said the move showed that there is no consultation
among ministers.
“We are a little worried with what is going on, clearly it shows that there is no consultation among ministers,” Chibuluma said.
“It shows there are a lot of gaps in the system. Mr Sichinga should check within
himself whether he was correct.”
Sichinga has often had to eat a humble pie from his proclamations with his fake money statement having sent a stir sending him into hibernation shortly after the PF government assumed power.
Recently, he said the mealie meal shortage was due to reduced milling capacity.
