Justice minister Wynter Kabimba has stated that government cannot constitute a referendum commission before the final draft constitution is completed and handed over to government.
Kabimba’s statement comes amid calls by some opposition political parties and other stakeholders that the PF government establishes a referendum commission ahead of the adoption of the constitution through a referendum.
The Justice minister, who is also PF Secretary General, notes that constitution of a referendum commission will depend on the format of the final draft constitution.
He said the PF government will only talk about establishing a referendum commission after June 30.
