The Patriotic Front government’s appetite for by-elections has surfaced again with twice losing Chipata Central candidate losing candidate Lameck Mangani petitioning the election of MMD’S Mtolo Phiri.
Mangani has filed an application in the Lusaka High Court saying Phiri was dubioulsy elected and wants the courts to nullify Phiri’s election.
The PF candidate lost the election to Phiri in the 2011 elections but sucessfully petitioned the election but lost the resultant by-election.
Mangani said Phiri should have been diaqualified to stand after his election was nullified.
Mangani’s petition is unlikely to go down well with the electorates who have not had their MP get down to work after having two years of going to court and another lengthy and costly process would not be welcomed.
