Petauke District of Eastern Province has run out of fuel grounding economic activities in the area.
And District Commissioner Elijah Mwale confirmed the shortage saying the two filling stations were struggling to procure the commodity as suppliers have scrapped off the credit facility following the removal of subsidies.
Motorists were being turned away without being told when next the commodity would be available.
Mwale said he would engage the suppliers to try and rectify the problem in the area. Since the Patriotic Front came to power in 2011, the country has suffered erratic fuel supply with most districts running out of the commodity.
Eastern, North Western, Southern, Western and Luapula Provinces are some of the hardest hit while Lusaka and Copperbelt provinces have not been spared in certain instances.
