The opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) has held a thanks giving rally in Kafulafuta Constituency to thank the electorates for giving the party its first seat on the Copperbelt.
Party President Hakainde Hichilema said it was always a brave decision by the electorates to choose an opposition party over a well funded ruling party in an election.
Hichilema said they had gone back to Kafulafuta to engage the electorates and brainstorm on how to build on the campaign messages.
He told the gathering that they should continue working hard to ensure that in 2016 they will be ready to wrestle power from the PF whom he said were failing to deliver on their campaign promises.
Area MP Brian Chitafu said he had received a lot of goodwill from the electorates since winning the poll and hoped to help develop the area.
Chitafu triumphed in the July, 26 by-election that was held after MMD’s Evans Chishiba defected to the ruling PF but embarassingly lost the seat to the opposition.
