United Party for National Development Senanga Member of Parliament Likando Mufalali says it appears Attorney General Mumba Malila is acting on instructions by going ahead to appeal the High Court decision to allow Dora Siliya and two others to file their nomination papers on Monday.
Mufalali said it was strange that Malila always acted after statements from the PF secretariat.
“We are worried with the manner the Attorney General is handling his duties. He seems to the instructions of politicians and we are made to believe that he is being pushed,” he said.
“Why are they so determined to carry through with this expensive and unnecessary process?”
He said the judiciary seemed to be undermined by the politicians.
Mufalali said the Supreme Court seemed to have been set as a sanctuary for the ruling party.
“It is the Supreme Court that overruled the High Court decision on the case for Dora Siliya and now strangely the case that was decided in Siliya’s favour is going to the Supreme Court,” he said.
Mumba Malila appealed High Court judge Mungeni Mulenga’s decision to allow Siliya and UPND members Maxwell Mwale of Malambo and Hastings Sililo of Mulobezi.
