Emmanuel Mwamba’s pronouncement that the Freedom of Information Bill has attracted the attention of parliament with the Speaker Patrick Matibini ordering Information Minister Mwansa Kapeya to issue a ministerial statement on the matter.
Mwamba, who barely a week after taking over as Permanent Secretary has gone to town making ground breaking statements across state media, said on Tuesday that the Freedom of Information Bill cannot be tabled before parliament because it was at variance with current legislation.
Choma Central Member of Parliament Cornelius Mweetwa sought clarification on the matter prompting Matibini to order Kapeya to issue a statement next week.
The eager to impress Mwamba has taken over the airwaves on public media where his pronouncements are given acres of space.
