HH@UTHNurses in Mbala district have joined the strike action taking place in some parts of the country.

While the public media has in the last 24 hours been straining to report that nurses have returned to work, the nurses have stuck to their guns and opted to keep staying away from work until their grievances are addressed.

National broadcaster ZNBC has in its latest bulletins been reporting that nurses have returned to work while the situation remains the same.

Nurses are demanding that discrepancies in their salary structure be addressed and also want a 100% increment as promised by President Michael Sata when he announced the ‘historic’ increment for public service workers.

The strike action is active at the University Teaching Hospital, Levy Mwanawasa, Ndola, Kitwe, Livingstone, Chipata and Mbala Hospitals.

Government has issued exculpatory letters for the nurses who have stayed away from work but they have refused to pick them up.
