Greyford MondeThe alarming statement put up by Agriculture Deputy Minister Greyford Monde that 230 tonnes of agriculture inputs had gone missing has embarrassingly been rebutted by the transporter of the cargo.

The truck that was reported allegedly missing left Lusaka on Friday (29/11/13) and arrived in Kabompo on Sunday and offloaded the seed on Monday (02/12/13).

Chilonda Transport, a Lusaka based company contracted to transport the seed, told the National Agricultural Information Services (NAIS) in Solwezi that 3200 by 10 kg bags of seed were delivered to Kabompo.

Chilonda Transport Operations Manager Innocent Malwa said truck number ABB 1210 driven by Chiybna Nkumbu arrived in Kabompo in the early hours of Sunday (01/12/13) due to the long distance from Lusaka (963 km).

The Deputy Minister told journalists on Wednesday that a truck carrying seed meant for Kabompo farmers had allegedly gone missing or diverted while transporting seed under FISP for 2013/2014 farming season.
