Trial in the case involving former Zambia Railways Managing Director Professor Clive Chirwa has opened with company Human Resource manager Davies Mukonkela telling the court that the accused was entitled to 20% of k140, 000 basic salary as housing allowance.
Mukonkela also confirmed that the flamboyant professor of crashworthiness also engaged his company Clavel Incorporated in which he was a shareholder without declaring interest.
Chirwa is jointly charged with his former Director of Finance Regina Mwale who authorized the payment of K72, 000 to Fallsway Apartments for the Chirwa’s accommodation although the entitlement was about K28, 000.
Professor Chirwa was subsequently fired and his passport confiscated by the state.
