chipolopoFootball Association of Zambia’s general secretary George Kasengele’s claim that Zambia may play Mexico on March 5 has been exposed as the Mexicans have a confirmed international friendly match against Nigeria the same date.

Kasengele has been quoted in the local media as claiming that Zambia had lined up Mexico and two other high profile opponents for a possible date on March 5.

However, the claim is untrue with the world cup team having concluded a deal with Nigeria.

According to reports from Mexico the match will be organized in the United States of America by Soccer United Marketing (SUM), the Mexican Football Federation’s US Representatives, with the co-operation of Eurodata Sport.

El Tri will play the Super Eagles at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta exactly nine months after both countries played out a 2-2 draw at the Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas.

Mexico will battle African opponent Cameroon in Group A of the Fifa World Cup that parades the host Brazil and Croatia while Stephen Keshi’s men will battle South American giants Argentina, Iran and Bosnia-Herzegovina in Group F.

Since falling out of major competitions after a poor show in 2013 the FAZ has been desperate to make a show of activity for the national team by making wild claims but to their credit managed a high profile international friendly against Brazil last year.

Communications officer Erick Mwanza had claimed that Zambia would play Argentina or England.
