The Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection says President Michael Sata’s challenge to the youth that they are not doing enough to contribute to national development is a mockery as they have not been provided with jobs.
JCTR Executive Director Father Leonard Chiti said instead of blaming the youth the Head of State would do better to create more job opportunities for the youth.
Fr Chiti said every year about 300, 000 school leavers were being churned out and that there had been no corresponding effort to absorb the youth into the job market.
He said the promise for the creation of skills training centres and also the national service re-introduction campaign promise had not been implemented.
Fr Chiti said it was contradictory for President Sata to make a show of being concerned with the youth situation in the country when he had failed to create job opportunities for them.
President Sata through his new found favoured medium of communication, facebook, where he challenged the youth to do more to contribute to national development.
