Former President Rupiah Banda’s son Andrew has appealed his two years conviction in the Lusaka High Court.
Andrew who has been in the Lusaka Central Prison from Friday has filed his notice of appeal with the court having thrown the state’s application to deny him bail.
He has been released on a K10, 000 bail and two working sureties.
The state is not yet done with Andrew, as they have slapped him with another case where they allege that he stole cement worth K1million.
Andrew was yesterday bundled away to the Lusaka Central Police where he was warned and cautioned.
His conviction has been used by former President Rupiah Banda’s adversaries chief among them Post Editor Fred M’membe as a way of painting the former Head of State as a corrupt man.
M’membe did not only toast to Andrew’s conviction but drove home an editorial where he painted the conviction as if it was Banda who had been jailed.
