KaneneClifford Dimba famously known as Gen Kanene has produced three songs supporting President Edgar Lungu.

“I will eternally be grateful to President Edgar Lungu and his government,” said Kanene.

“President Lungu’s decision to pardon me and even give me the prestigious position of Ambassador against Gender Based Violence was the most humbling experience.”

Kanene said that political attacks and lies against him would not alienate him from President Edgar Lungu.

Kanene, who was donning an Edgar Lungu hat, said the two songs for President Edgar Lungu were a way of highlighting the virtues the Head of State represents

” I have done “Alungu ana nichosa ku manda”, ” Mwenzo lila Constitution”, and ” Ine ni Lungu ce”.

He said while the Opposition were peddling lies against him, he was busy in the studio producing songs and he couldn’t join political parties that were not serious.

He said he was thankful to President Lungu for giving him an opportunity but regretted that this chance could have been lost.

“I am an artist, I have a following. I will continue to make comentaries about the ills and vices of society,” says the Misisi-based Gen Kanene.

Erick MwanzaThe noose is tightening on FAZ licensing manager Erick Mwanza after being caught up a cash scandal on his recent unsanctioned campaign trips across the country.

Mwanza, not strange to fraud, has allegedly failed to account for K400, 000 with FAZ being pressed to act on the reported act.

FAZ general secretary George Kasengele is pushing to have Mwanza arrested but part of the officials at Football House are holding out fearing the scandal could be damaging to incumbent Kalusha Bwalya’s third term bid.

Kasengele has proposed Mwanza be sent on forced leave while the matter is being pursued but the FAZ president is dilly dallying on the matter.

FAZ will hold its elective annual general meeting on March 19 at Moba Hotel in Kitwe. Erick Mwanza had recently undertaken countrywide tours to campaign for Kalusha but disguised the meetings as Administrator Courses.

Mwanza has been guns blazing on social media attacking other candidates. He has also sponsored several characters to smear FAZ candidates with dirt in the hope of cowing them out of the race.

Post Newspaper Employees Undergo Lessons On Socialism

post-newspaper-zambia-reportsPost Newspapers editor Fred M’membe has taken his communist style affair with ideology by introducing socialism lessons for all his employees.

M’membe, a lavish capitalist by practice, is personally delivering the lessons alongside selected Rainbow Party officials in The Post Newspapers conference room.

The lessons are mandatory with skipping them attracting sanctions like suspension, a pay cut or in the extreme dismissal.

With employees already obliged to be registered as Rainbow Party members, there seems to be no limit as to how many more forced activities the employees will have to go through under the hand of the hardcore capitalist posturing as a socialist.

Meanwhile, the case in which Rainbow Party president Wynter Kabimba and ex-officio M’membe are charged with defamation against fourth Republican President Rupiah Banda has been adjourned to March 22.

When the matter came up for trial before Lusaka Magistrate Kenneth Mulife the duo’s lawyers was absent forcing court to put off the case.

Kabimba and M’membe are charged with defamation following an article that appeared in the Post Newspapers alleging that Banda was corrupt.

The duo has not made their dislike for Banda a secret and never loses an opportunity to take pot shots at him. Magistrate Mulife has pushed the case to March 22 and 24 for continued trial.

LAZ Salutes ‘Mr Walk the Talk’ Pres. Lungu

Pres. Lungu1The Law Association of Zambia says the move President Edgar Lungu to resist taking amendments to the constitution after it was freshly passed is progressive.

Some sectors have raised the dust over some amendments in the newly amended constitution but President Edgar Lungu has cut short any such hopes saying the amendment was final.

The clause on the requisite for a parliamentary candidate to have a grade 12 certificate has unsettled current parliamentarians with others pushing for a referendum.

LAZ president George Chisanga says it was not prudent for the country to hurriedly amend the constitution just to appease a few individuals.

Chisanga said it was not possible that everyone could be happy with the constitution but that the process was a give and take scenario.

He said LAZ would soon be holding a stakeholders’ meeting over the review of the Public Order Act.

President Edgar Lungu recently announced that anybody seeking a review of the Public Order Act should make submissions to the Ministry of Justice.

Last week an attempt by the opposition to push through amendments to the Public Order Act failed in parliament when the matter was put to a vote.

Low Quality Debate Upsets Matibini

MatibiniThe Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Matibini showed his growing impatience with Members of Parliament who have shown lack of full comprehension of the newly amended constitution.

And Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda said government continues to enjoy a good relationship with the International Monetary Fund.

Making a ruling on a Point of Order by Mwansabombwe Member of Parliament Rogers Mwewa who repeated the question on whether the newly amended constitution had scrapped off the position of deputy ministers, Matibini said he was disappointed that some Members of Parliament had not shown understanding of document they had passed.

Matibini, who last week advised Lukulu West Member of Parliament, on the same subject held nothing back in his ruling.

“Let me guide let us, take time to reflect on what we did last year and familiarize ourselves. If you do not have a copy ask the office of the clerk and at your time find time to go through clause by clause,” he said curtly.

“Then you can go and tell your constituents about the document.”

And Chikwanda said the economy had recorded reduced growth in 2015 given the challenges in the mining sector and adverse weather.

He said the economy in 2015 had grown at 3.5% marking a significant reduction.

Chikwanda said the budget deficit in 2015 stood at 8.1% of the Growth Domestic Product while the external debt stood at US$6.3 as at 10th December, 2015.

He announced that the IMF team will be back in the country in March for a second round of negotiations to put Zambia on another programme.

Kalu’s Team Panic; Schemes To Disqualify Highly Rated Financial Expert Alex Munasha

Football HouseThe Football Association of Zambia may have given the first hint at how they are panicking at the prospects of losing office at the March 19 annual general meeting.

The FAZ executive is attempting to crown incumbent treasurer Rix Mweemba, a basic book-keeper, unopposed long before scrutiny of valid nominations is concluded.

FAZ announced through their surrogate mouthpiece Zambian Kickoff run by Club Licensing manager Eric Mwanza that Mweemba had gone through unopposed prematurely disqualifying Alex Munasha.

FAZ alleged that Munasha, a Nkana Football Club treasurer and also a Copperbelt University trained accountant, had not proven his accounting qualifications in his nomination papers.

However, the speed with which they went to town may have exposed the spirit within which FAZ wants to hold the elections as they panic at the prospects of losing the election. They intend to continue holding office so that they can continue abusing public funds at Football House.

When contacted about his credentials, Munasha responded; “I submitted all my papers on time as per requirement of the nomination papers. In fact, on February 16 the club Nkana, sent confirmation of my tenure of office with the record champions of Zambian football, ” Munasha, who comes with an impeccable record of 16 years of work practice as an accountant, clarified.

“What the nomination papers asked for I submitted on time. Now am shocked that they are claiming Mr. Rix Mweemba is unopposed. How?” Munasha wondered.

“They are releasing information in bits online without declaring the nominations valid? This is what is wrong in Zambian football. A clique think they can manipulate everything. However, am game. These are just lies.”

The man who holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from the Copperbelt University and ACCA from the UK further said that the rumours were unfounded and aimed at hoodwinking unsuspecting councillors.

“These schemes could have been prevented if the electoral rules were produced. However, these are just rumours. We shall wait for the official position from FAZ. Councillors need to be wary. My nominations papers were sent in time and I am standing and headed for victory, ” Munasha, who is also a student of Master of Business Administration (Strategic Planning) from UK’s Edinburgh School of Business, concluded.

Meanwhile, Kelvin Mutafu has withdrawn from the race choosing to watch from the terraces. Mutafu has endorsed Andrew Kamanga and says his decision to stay off the ballot is aimed at giving maximum support to Munasha.

Mutafu recently resigned from FAZ citing corruption by the Kalusha Bwalya led FAZ executive.

The football family will head to the March 19 elections with the race at the top between business magnate Andrew Kamanga and incumbent Kalusha Bwalya who is seeking a third term at the helm of the game. Henschel Chitembeya is also contesting the presidency.

Tayali: Hichilema Is Not Our Saviour; He Can’t Account For His Wealth

HichilemaIf I was unreasonable I would have blamed it on Edgar Lungu, but I know the man has his own problems.

While you are thinking that, PF is Bank-rolling me, I have bills ranging from Rentals, ZESCO, Water, Post-dated Cheques, Personal debts, lobola and wedding money, plus other national issues which people like Kaizer Zulu should handle for the good of the Nation, but he has been on a working holiday since he was appointed.

You people who want to protest on issues, should weigh the risk and danger you expose yourself to. These politicians are just manipulating you.

I have spent the whole morning putting off fires here and there like a mad man. It is not fun guys.

I guess it is such problems that took Lupando Mwape and others to HHSC thinking he would sort them out, but I think HHSC does not know what it takes to sort out problems of people in a Country. He is simply not the solution

People who have had it easy to amass wealthy can be so arrogant and condescending on those who have little or nothing. However, I must tell you that living a straightforward life is very challenging, YOU NEED TO PERSEVERE GOD’S TIME IS THE BEST

People who live a straight life look like fools to those who have had an opportunity to loot like HHSC. That is why I will never bow down to a man who glows rich in a manner that he can’t even explain.

I can account for all the little I have, but HHSC can’t.

Nevers-TownshipOpposition MMD president Nevers Mumba says he finds it to be normal to continue having all people that earlier seemed loyal to him rebelling against him over the issue of the Convention.

Dr. Mumba says it is nothing new for the MMD to have its members leave if their fortunate change after another leader comes in to head the party.

Dr. Mumba has recalled that many people left the MMD after late President Patrick Mwanawasa became party leader at the end of late former president Frederick Chiluba’s tenure.

Dr. Mumba notes that the same thing happened to the former party when former President Rupiah Banda became party president and Republican President.

He says he is thus convinced that there are some party members that have vowed to leave the MMD if they do not overthrow him out from leadership.

Bwalya-PFThe ruling Patriotic Front has started receiving nominations from individuals aspiring for political office in the August 2016 general election.

PF deputy spokesperson Frank Bwalya has announced the floodgates are open and those wishing to be MPs and Councillors on PF ticket are welcome to start submitting their nominations.

Below is the full statement

THE PATRIOTIC FRONT MEDIA BRIEFING HELD AT THE PF SECRETARIAT, LUSAKA, ZAMBIA.
TUESDAY 23RD FEBRUARY 2016

Distinguished members of the press, brothers and sisters.
On Saturday 20th February 2016 our party, the Patriotic Front held a Central Committee meeting here in Lusaka and deliberated on a number of pertinent matters concerning our great party.
We have called this media briefing to inform the public in Zambia and beyond through you our cherished partners in the media about one important highlight from the said Central Committee meeting.
We wish to announce that the Central Committee which is the supreme organ of our great party, the Patriotic Front (PF) under the wise leadership of President Edgar Chagwa Lungu passed a resolution to allow our Party Secretariat headed by our able Secretary General Mr Davies Chama to start the process of adopting candidates for the forthcoming general elections by calling for applications from aspiring candidates.

It is important for us to make it clear that the adoption process in our great party has several stages. The first stage is that of inviting applications from those intending to stand on our attractive ticket. As such the application from aspiring candidates is supposed to be treated as an expression of interest to stand on our attractive party ticket.

So the application is not an end in itself. It is just a stage in the adoption process. Therefore, we wish to state categorically that the instruction to aspiring candidates not to engage in activities that would undermine our sitting Members of Parliament and Councillors remains. Moreover we shall not allow our aspiring candidates to destabilize Members of Parliament and Councillors from the opposition that have been working with us especially those from the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) and the United Party for National Development (UPND).

Against this background, our Secretary General Mr Davies Chama will soon advertise to call for applications. The applications will be forwarded to relevant structures in our party. We wish to announce that the Secretary General will also give guidelines on how the exercise will be managed.
On a related matter, we wish to state that President Lungu has not endorsed the candidacy of anyone. Therefore, those who will be found claiming that the Head of State who happens to be the leader of our party has given them an adoption certificate will be disciplined accordingly.

Finally, we wish to make an earnest appeal to our leaders at various levels in our party structures to cooperate with our Secretariat and ensure a clean adoption process that will come up with popular candidates. As a party we have achieved a lot within a short period and under harsh economic conditions triggered by global factors. As such, it is an open secret that even unpopular candidates can win on our attractive ticket. Nevertheless, our aim is to adopt powerful candidates that would not just win us seats but amass a lot of votes for the presidential candidate to guarantee a knock out in the first round of voting on August 11, 2016. Our undisputed presidential candidate is Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu, the man who has earned the nickname of Mr Walk the Talk.

God bless our wise leader Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu.
God bless Zambia.
I thank you.

Dr Kaseba Dragged To Court Over Late President’s Estate

Dr-Kaseba-bigA WRANGLE has erupted over the sharing of late president Michael Sata’s estate where two of his children and their mother have dragged former first lady Christine Kaseba to court.

Mukupa Sata and Salome Sata, children of Petronella Mpundu have sued Dr Kaseba and State House deputy Minister Mulenga Sata in the High Court for being sidelined in the activities and decisions surrounding the estate of their father.

Dr Kaseba has been sued together with Mulenga, in their capacities as administrators of late Michael Sata’s estates and the Attorney General is cited as the third responded in the matter.

Ms Mpundu, an economist, has told the court that she was married traditionally to former president Sata and they had two children and should therefore be fully recognised in the management of his estate.

She said former president Sata provided for her and Mukupa and Salome’s requirements until his sudden death on October 28, 2014.

She accused Dr Kaseba and Mulenga of failing to declare the value of the late president’s estates, as well as disclose details of a trust which their father created for the children’s benefit, who were party to the assets.

“That the late Michael C Sata and I were married under customary law in Zambia and he provided for me all my needs which included upkeep at home, travel, holiday and transport. That in my relationship with the deceased, we had two children born to us and the two were equally maintained by the deceased,” she said.

Ms Mpundu explained that by virtue of who she was to the deceased, she presented authority over the contents of the information before the court and swore to the parentage of her children as belonging to the late president Sata.

She said, Cabinet Office recognized her and her children as the family of president Sata who also created a trust for the benefit of the children, which details have not been declared to her by the administrators despite several attempts to get the information.

Ms Mpundu has since requested the High Court for an interim injunction to restrain the three respondents to cease any activities of administrator on the late president Sata’s estates until after the determination of the matter before the courts.

KazalaFAZ vice-presidential aspirant Richard Kazala has alleged vote buying at Football House but urges councillors to do “donchi kubeba” on corrupt candidates in an indirect jibe at his rival Pivoty Simwanza.

The FAZ executive committee member has lifted the lid on alleged vote buying at FAZ in a report in the Daily Nation today.

“I believe any candidate must go around and tell people his or her plans. But some candidates have set up camp at FAZ using materials to buy votes. This is sad for the development of football in our country. It is time you implemented the “Donchi kubeba” to end the dirty in football,”

Kazala said his campaign was issue based and urged the NSCZ to monitor events ahead of the FAZ elections. In the Kalusha Bwalya camp, Kazala faces a challenge from fellow executive committee member Pivo Simwanza who has gone an indiscriminate distribution of soccer balls and jersey obtained through the bogus Nike they assigned to themselves.

Others contesting the number two job at Football House include incumbent Borniface Mwamelo, Lusaka Dynamos chairman Mofya Chisala. From successful businessman and soccer administrator Andrew Kamanga’s team comes prominent lawyer Kephas Katongo. FAZ polls are on March 19.

Inonge-WinaVice President Inonge Wina has denied any links between State House and Israeli consultancy firm Timor that has been alleged to have come to Zambia to aid the ruling Patriotic Front win elections.

Responding to a question from Chongwe Member of Parliament Sylvia Masebo Wina said if anyone had evidence of the presence of Timor Consultancy they were free to report the matter to the relevant authorities.

Wina said no government wing had any dealings with the Israeli firm as far as she was concerned.
“There has been a sustained campaign against the PF in some online and print media which is where this question is coming from. There is no relationship between State House and Timor Consultancy it is a fabrication of hate media,” she said.

“This company is not known to State House or PF.”

Wina pressed further in response to a question from Sinda Member of Parliament Levy Ngoma who insisted that there was evidence that the Israeli firm was in the country, “If evidence was presented to us about the existence of such a company then we would act on it.”

She said the PF did not need the help of any foreign firm to win elections.

“I am very surprised that online social media has been taken so seriously by even educated members like the honourable member for Mazabuka Central (Garry Nkombo). We do not need the help of any foreign company to win elections,” Wina said.

National Day Of Prayer Gobbled About K141, 000

Praying ZambiaGovernment has revealed that K140, 610, 89 was spent during the national day of prayer and fasting held on October 18 last year.

And Local Government and Housing Minister Stephen Kampyongo said he will not whip street vendors off the streets before he finds an alternative for them.

Responding to a question from Chadiza Member of Parliament Allan Mbewe, Vice President Inonge Wina said issues of faith were difficult to quantify.

Wina said prayer was a moment of reflection and reconciliation.

She said that those that were still propagating violence may have come out of the day empty.

“You can’t quantify the benefit of prayer those who do not believe in it will continue to question its outcome,” Wina said.

Last year President Edgar Lungu called for a National Day of Prayer that has since been made an annual event.

And Kampyongo said that vending had no legal backing but was a consequence of the larger societal problems.

Sata’s Youngest Children, 17 &10 Year-Olds, Plead For Better Consideration In Estate

Sata-with-Wynter-Kabimba-at-State-HouseTHE value of the estate left by late President Michael Sata is a mystery to the children and other beneficiaries, claims Petronnela Mpundu who has deposed in the Lusaka High Court as widow of the fifth head of State of Zambia.

Mukupa and Salome Sata, children of Ms Mpundu, have sued former first lady Dr Christine Kaseba, and State House deputy minister Mulenga Sata, in the High Court for being sidelined in the activities and decisions surrounding the estate of their father.

Ms Mpundu has told the Lusaka High Court that since Mr Sata died intestate on October 28 2014 there has been no of the assets to be considered in the determination of sharing amongst all the beneficiaries.

She explained that as a widow of the late president, she and her two children deserved to know the value of the estate left behind by her husband in order to understand what they were entitled to.

Ms Mpundu explained that since the appointment of Dr Kaseba and Mulenga Sata as administrators, her two children with the late head of state aged 17 and 10 respectively have not received any form of financial or other assistance from their father’s estate since his death which has left them near- destitute.

She said the deceased maintained a close relationship with his children and his extended family throughput their lives, and especially that they were both minors, and were since birth in her custody, they fully maintained by their father until his demise.

She charged that after the funeral, the administrators only request accounts details of the children for the distribution of their purported share of their father’s estate despite the absence of a full declaration of the actual value of the estate.

She disclosed that Cabinet wrote a confidential letter acknowledging that the deceased was the father the children and that he had even employed a driver to be taking the children to school. He had also created a trust for them.

She complained that the details of the trust had not been released to her despite several attempts to get details from the administrators. “That on 2nd February 2016, I received a letter from the respondents requesting for the account information of the children for the distribution of the estate of the deceased. “They allocated K105,516.67 to each child as well as US$16,304 and K39,460.59 to each child without showing proper valuation of the estate,” the court document states.

Ms Mpundu explained that she was not included in the division of the money in the various accounts as she was not included among the deceased’s dependants, showing clearly how she was left out of the estate, including its full value.

Ms Mpundu lamented about her challenges in meeting her children’s school requirements and other daily needs since the passing away of their father, and that Dr Kaseba, Mulenga and the Attorney General have all failed to support the children as administrators of their father’s estate.

She said her children were both minors under the age of 17 years and so required more assistance than the older children’s entitlements in the estate of the late president.

She has since applied for an injunction to restrain the three administrators from taking any further action on the estate of the late President until the matter is determined.

LAZThe Law Association of Zambia has called for a caucus to address the question of political party induced violence.

LAZ president George Chisanga says the issue of violence needed to be taken seriously with elections lying ahead in August.

Chisanga said political parties were only giving the issue lip service as they were the chief beneficiaries.

He said there was no need for politics to degenerate to a level where it led to loss of life.

Chisanga also reiterated LAZ’s desire to see the question of the Public Order Act settled permanently.

He said the administration of the Public Order Act was critical in an election year and urged the police to liaise with political parties to avoid disorder.

Wilbur SimuusaWilbur Simuusa seems to have seems to have sensed the futility of antagonizing the ruling Patriotic Front and is now rooting for Edgar Lungu to win the August 11 general elections.

Simuusa, whose candidature on the ruling Patriotic Front is in doubt given the widespread discontent among the electorates in Nchanga Constituency, said the PF will win the elections but need to work hard.

He said that the PF should not ignore the voices of discontent especially on the Copperbelt where job losses in the mines had fuelled resentment.

“No doubt PF will win the elections but we need to pay attention to some of the challenges the country is going through,” he said.

“President Edgar Lungu is working hard and doing his best to manage the affairs of the country and deserves our support.”

Simuusa has not been the most enthusiastic of supporters of President Lungu after having lost the race for the top job in the PF at the convention where he was among the candidates sponsored by the infamous cartel. All cartel candidates flopped miserably.

PF Thug MaxMAXWELL Chongo has been arrested after he turned himself in at Kafue police station for allegedly assaulting two fellow PF cadres, one of whom was sliced with a wine glass, at Bigies Nightclub on Sunday night.

Chongo, who had allegedly been on the run since Sunday night, turned himself in on Tuesday. He, however, denies being involved in the brawl. His close friends say Max is innocent but has accumulated a lot of political enemies.

According to sources, Max is disliked by especially UPND members who say he is too “pompous” and “a natural show of.”
